The Prayer Dome
Praying Matthew 16:19

As I wrote previously in Prayer – The Work of the Kingdom, we understand His and our authority, and we use it. We started with this progression:

  • God’s authority – Isaiah 40.
  • God’s authority given to Jesus – Isaiah 9:6. “The government shall be upon His shoulders.”
  • Jesus’ authority given to us – Matthew 28:18-20
  • Our authority – John 1:12. “To as many as received Him, to them He gave the right (Greek – power, authority) to become (Greek – to arise, be born into, be assembled to partake) children of God, even to those who believe in His name.”

Even in our extreme weakness1, He has given us authority over the darkness, so we arise and assemble ourselves to partake in the victory. We have been born into this authority.

After writing Use the Keys, I began to pray Matthew 16:19 with confidence in the Holy Spirit. After all, I did not earn the authority to pray; it was a gift given to me by Jesus to use. The image of a protective dome over the people for which I prayed came to my mind. I first placed my husband in the dome and began to pray the words the Lord gave me according to Matthew 16:19. (See the image at the end of this document.)

I painted The Prayer Dome for my own use with stormy skies and ministering angels (Hebrews 1:14). Then, I added the prayer under the dome. Many people asked to use it and so I had it printed with a teaching on the back. You may purchase it at Flower Girl Greetings here

The Prayer Dome is a Biblical tool. I believe it is also important to listen to the Lord to know how to specifically pray for each person; He sees what we cannot see about each unique life. (See Romans 8:14)

“I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, I shall call upon Him as long as I live.” Psalm 116:1-2

1From an email sent to subscribers on March 5, 2021, pertaining to weakness in prayer – In these times when many are discouraged, despondent, feeling helpless, lonely, isolated, and anxious, it is hopeful to know that we can actually make a difference with our prayers. Our prayers are powerful! Let me encourage you by sharing a brief story.

In 1998 I had a complete nervous breakdown. (I share part of my story here in Freedom from Depression and Anxiety.) The Lord healed me within three years. For the first two years, I thought my life was over. I said to myself, “Some people end well, some not-so-well. I will just end not-so-well.” God had other plans!

I remember that sometime during the first two years of the breakdown, I wanted to clean the windows of my ground-level apartment. But the severe anxiety debilitated me. One sunny day, I managed to clean one-fourth of the outside of one window. I just could not do anymore. I came inside and fell asleep. The next day, I cleaned another fourth of the outside of the window. In eight days, one window was clean. The next day, I moved on to the next window.

Beloved, no matter where you are right now, you can do a tiny, tiny bit in His kingdom that will make a profound effect even in your weakness. You can pray with authority. Do not let the enemy fire darts at you about your imperfection and weakness. Pray anyway. In Jesus and only in Him, you, dear friend, have the authority to pray!

Welcome to Shale Fragments, a collection of writings and art for individual and group use!

Teaching God’s truth and the beauty of His Word is my greatest delight! My art card company, Flower Girl Greetings, was launched in 2012 with this purpose. In April 2020, ShaleFragments.com became the gathering place for the writings.

As I have studied the rich meanings of the original Greek and Hebrew languages of the Bible, I continue to see beautiful progressions and connections that compel me to organize and convey their life-changing beauty!
