Grand Compassion

His Grand Compassion

The Grand Compassion Art Card is from the Thy Faithfulness Collection and is also available as a 4-Pack at Flower Girl Greetings.com

In April 2001, I traveled with a friend out west. I took this photograph in Arizona at the Grand Canyon as the sun set. The Canyon was bigger than anything I had seen; I just couldn’t grasp its magnitude in my humanness. And yet…

…Isaiah 40:22 says that God sits above the vault of the earth and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He has “measured the waters in the hollow of His hand… and weighed the mountains in a balance…” (Isaiah 40:12)  He is great with might and yet gentle as a shepherd with his lambs (Isaiah 40:10-11)!

Isaiah prophesied (54:10) – “‘For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, but My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, and My covenant of peace will not be shaken’ says the Lord who has compassion on you.”  I painted these words with olive green watercolor and a pointed brush in large letters on rough watercolor paper to ensure the textured result. Then, I scanned the words and placed them in the Grand compassion card file for the printer.

Oh, Mighty, Gentle, Compassionate Lord, we are awed by Your beauty and strength!  We are humbled by Your condescension to us to woo us as your Bride!  We worship You today!  (Isaiah 62:3-5)
