I Am the Light of the world
Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
The prophet Isaiah foretold the Light:
Isaiah 9:1-2
There will be no more gloom for her who was in anguish... He shall make it glorious by the way of the sea on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles.
The people who walk in darkness
Will see a great light;
Those who live in a dark land,
The light will shine on them.
Isaiah 60:1
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
The rainbow is a breathtaking miracle of God – a brilliant, arched spectrum in the sky created when the light of the sun refracts and reflects through drops of water.
The rainbow mirrors the radiance of heaven and the glory of the Lord as revealed in the visions of the prophets:
As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. (Ezekiel 1:28)
Jesus is the Light of the world, the “radiance of God’s glory” (Hebrews 1:3)
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4)
God who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6)
