The Apostle Paul was concerned that the believers in Corinth would be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:3).

The good news of Jesus the Messiah is simple and pure. His message is not complicated or hard to understand. So, what is meant by “the depth of God’s word” or “going deep in God’s word”?

Depth is the revelation of simple truth as He imparts it to our hungry, seeking, receiving hearts and as He transforms us through its reception. We cannot be changed apart from His Spirit.

Depth is like being under water on a coastal reef and seeing all the colors of the marine life and reflections of the water. It is like walking inside a gem and looking through all the facets, seeing the vibrance from different perspectives... all very simple, clean and beautiful, but deep and rich.

O Lord, open my eyes that I may behold wonderful truths in Your instructions. (Psalm 119:18)
