Eternal, Life-Giving Word
Our Certainty in Difficult Times

Greetings to you on this hot July weekend! This morning, the garden has been watered, the laundry started, the kitchen cleaned up, and here I am with a message on my heart!
In this divisive, radical, and uncertain political climate, there is one thing that remains certain and eternal. The prophet Isaiah cried out a verse I’ve always loved. In fact, I remember painting the words in gradations of green sometime in the 1980s. Hear the word of the Lord from Isaiah 40:6-8 (NASB):
A voice says, “Call out.”
Then he answered, “What shall I call out?”
All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness
is like the flower of the field.
The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the Word of our God stands forever.
Dear beloved of the Lord, no matter what your pain or circumstance, if you have the Holy Spirit abiding in you – the Word of God made flesh – Yeshua (Jesus) – that WORD abides forever! His Word IN YOU lives forever. His Word radiates through your very own unique personality. Everything that makes you YOU has the Light of the world coming through it.
So, soak in the Word of the Lord. Let it saturate your tired aches and pains. Let it be the Fountain of Living Water in the midst of your grief and loss. Trust His love. Read His Word through the lens of His steadfast, overwhelming love for you. Ask Him what He is speaking to you through it.
Yeshua lifted His eyes to heaven and spoke, “This is eternal life, that they may know You [the Father], the only true God, and Yeshua Messiah Whom You have sent.” (John 17:3) Although other books are interesting and often useful, no information about “how to” do our lives can compare to God’s Word. There is powerful, life-giving energy and help in “every Word that proceeds from His mouth.”
The Lover of our souls gave us His Word. His Word reflects His very heart and His desire for us.
For an immediate perspective-tweak, I encourage you to read the entire Chapter 40 of Isaiah!
