The I AMs of Jesus Collection
A Story

After the Hebrew Names of God Collection was printed in 2014, The I AMs Collection was created and printed in 2015. It is shown on Page 2 of our new catalog. It contains 12 “I AMs” spoken by Jesus (Yeshua) from the books of John and Revelation. The back of each card includes Scripture and devotional thoughts. I have loved these breathtaking declarations and painted them many times. Jesus declared Himself to be:
- The Bread of Life
- The True Vine
- The Resurrection and the Life
- The Light of the world
- The Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last
- The Good Shepherd and The Door of the sheep
- The Messiah (the Anointed One or Christ)
- The Root and Offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star
- The Way, the Truth, and the Life!
Jesus prefaces each declaration with “I AM” from the book of Exodus (3:14, 15b). Here is the context: Moses asked God what His Name was so that he would know when the sons of Israel asked him, God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM” [the Hebrew Yahweh]; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”… This is My name forever, My memorial-name to all generations.”
Yahweh means “I AM that I AM” or “I will be what I will be” – the Eternally Existent One Whose actions declare His character. By saying “I AM,” Jesus claimed to be one with the Father.
He also spoke other descriptive names about Himself in a less direct way than using the preface “I AM.” Here are just a few from the book of John:
- He offered Himself as The Living Water (John 4:13-14; 7:37-38).
- He spoke of Himself as Savior (John 3:17; 4:42; 5:24), Redeemer, Healer, Bridegroom, Miracle Worker, and Righteous Judge (John 5:25-32; 7:24; 8:15-16; 12:46-48),
- The Son of Man lifted up to offer eternal life (John 3:14-15; 8:28, 35-36; 12:32-33; Daniel 7:13-14),
- The Subject of Moses’ writings (John 5:45-47),
- The True Spiritual Food and Drink (John 6:53-63).
The Apostle Peter called Him The Holy One of God. (John 6:69)
The Apostle John called Him The Word of God made flesh. (John 1:14)
John, the Baptizer called Him The Lamb of God sacrificed to take away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)
Dear Lord Who came to earth, Yeshua, no list can contain all the descriptions of Your glory! You are the Good Shepherd. You are everything we need. You make us lie down in green pastures in the midst of the chaos around us. You lead us beside still waters of refreshment that restore our soul. We are comforted in Your guidance. We live in Your goodness and mercy forever. Amen.
Blessings and love in Him,
Beth Ann
