One of my favorite scenes in the Bible is Yeshua sitting on the rocky shore of the Sea of Galilee with seven of His disciples after His resurrection. My heart is always warmed when I think about that special reunion around the fire. I wrote a bit about this in the devotional Instruction at Breakfast, but here I expound on the story, since I have continued to make other Scripture connections. I hope that as you read it, you are encouraged by His steadfast love for you.

An Imaginative Interpretation of John’s experience on the mountain when Yeshua was transformed before him taken from the accounts of Matthew 17:1-8, Luke 9:28-37, Mark 9:2-9, John 1:4, 14, and Ezekiel 37:26-27 using the Hebrew names – Yeshua (Jesus), Yochanan (John), Kefa (Peter), Ya ’akov (James), Moshe (Moses), Eliyahu (Elijah), Yechezk’el (Ezekiel), and Adonai (Master)

Yeshua took the three of us up a mountain to a secluded place surrounded by tall trees. He had asked if we would accompany Him for a time of prayer. Of course! Father had revealed to us that our Friend was the Messiah! His teaching had penetrated our souls every day as we listened to the life-giving grace that came from His every word. What a privilege that He would ask us to go anywhere with Him! We were eager for each purposeful adventure!

The Adoration and Tenacity of Mary of Magdala
An Imaginative Interpretation of Mary's last week with Yeshua (Jesus)

Singer, songwriter, and author Michael Card said, “The best way to love someone is to listen to them. The best way to love God is to listen to Him. Your imagination integrates your heart and your mind. The Bible is aimed at your imagination.”

I have been scrutinizing the Scripture for the timeline of Yeshua’s (Jesus) last days for many years. It is often difficult to find chronologies in the Gospel accounts because the writings were collections of gathered writings. In their authenticity, much detail was not included. For instance, Mary of Magdala was alone at the tomb with the risen Messiah; But other verses mention she was at the tomb with the other women, as well as with Peter and John. In this story, I explore how these events may have occurred in their order, writing from Mary’s perspective. As I attempted to capture her emotion and her understanding of the events, my gratitude to my Savior has deepened.

This story reflects the context of first-century Judaism in Jerusalem in about AD 30 during the week of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits in the spring – the week coinciding with Yeshua’s last week on earth. The following summary of the meaning behind these Jewish Appointed Days will clarify parts of the story...         It was another execution day. Three men charged with felonies were to be crucified. The execution squad is selected on a rotating basis from among the Roman soldiers stationed under Pontius Pilate. It was my turn, along with three of my companions, to perform the execution.

I was in awe of Elijah. The awe permeated down to my bones. His courage, his resolute fervor captivated me. I felt needy, greedy, clingy. I wanted to be with him all the time. I wanted everything he had, everything he was... multiplied over and over. I wanted to swim in him. He had a connection with the Almighty that I thirsted for.

In about AD 60 as recorded in Acts 8:26-40, Philip was told by an angel to go to the desert road from Jerusalem to Gaza. There he met an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official for the queen of his country. Since we don’t know his name, I would like to call him Paar*. Paar was on his way home from Jerusalem where he had been worshipping.

Welcome to Shale Fragments, a collection of writings and art for individual and group use!

Teaching God’s truth and the beauty of His Word is my greatest delight! My art card company, Flower Girl Greetings, was launched in 2012 with this purpose. In April 2020, ShaleFragments.com became the gathering place for the writings.

As I have studied the rich meanings of the original Greek and Hebrew languages of the Bible, I continue to see beautiful progressions and connections that compel me to organize and convey their life-changing beauty!
