Songs of Heaven
Worship Before His Throne
Print the two-page PDF
My desire was to create a song sheet so we could join with the voices of Revelation in heaven in worship to our King. We could push our voices out with a new melody that may form a song to Him! We could sing the words or say them out loud, wrapping our hearts around Him in devotion!
The song sheet is on the next page. Each song is prefaced with the ones who are singing it. But first, here are brief notes to give understanding. It is important to note that apocalyptic literature includes many symbolic elements that would have been readily understood to the first century Asia Minor audience:
- The songs are from Revelation 4:8; 4:10; 5:8-14; 7:9-12; 11:15-17; 12:10-12; 15:3-4. I use the words that refer to God from the MJLT (Messianic Jewish Literal Translation) because I enjoy this version. Adonai means Master or Lord. Please use your own translations if you prefer.
- The word holy means set apart. We take our light into this world, but are set apart from it. Qadosh is Hebrew for holy. It is a beautiful word to sing. You may replace the word holy with qadosh (pronounced kaw-doshe’) as you form your songs.
- In the book of Revelation, wherever you read about flashes of lightning and peals of thunder, John is echoing back to the Israelites encounter with Yahweh at Mt. Sinai. These elements represent the flourishing presence of God and His creation.
- The number 12 represents the totality or entirety of something. The 24 elders represent the totality of God’s people, Jew and Gentile (12 tribes plus 12 apostles), the holy set-apart ones, born again into His kingdom, His Faithful Witnesses… us.
- The 4 living creatures in the heavenly Temple represent all the beautiful, teaming life of Elohim’s complete flourishing creation as He intended it from the beginning of time (Genesis 1 and 2). The number 4 is the number of earth’s completion – 4 corners, 4 winds.
- The number 7 represents completion or fulfillment.
- 1,000 represents infinity. It is not a specific number; it means too much to count, or a satisfying, all-encompassing period of time.
- 144,000 means a number too numerous to count (12 x 12 x 1,000). It implies that everyone within that number is accounted for. We are part of this accounted-for company, sealed with His mark.
- A Faithful Witness is an Image Bearer of the Slaughtered Lamb, one who is an observer (looking for the Kingdom of Shalom) and an ambassador (carrying the Kingdom into the world), not self-protective, but willing to stand in and for the King’s purposes in the earth, even in the face of death – worshipping Him with their lives.
Let’s sing with all creation in the presence of the Great I AM, our Creator on His throne (Revelation 4) and to the Slaughtered Lamb (revealed in Revelation 5)!
Revelation Songs of Heaven
4:8 – The 4 living creatures do not cease to say day and night,
Holy, holy, holy is Adonai the Almighty God of the armies of Heaven, Who was, and Who is, and Who is coming!
4:10 – The 24 elders fall before Him who sits on the throne, and they worship Him who lives forever and ever, casting their crowns before the throne, saying,
Worthy are You, our Master and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they exist and were created!
5:8-10 – The 4 creatures and 24 elders fell before the Lamb with their harps and golden bowls of incenses, which are the prayers of the holy ones, and they sang a new song:
Worthy are You to take the scroll and open its seals, because You were slaughtered, and You redeemed to God with Your blood those from every nation, language, people, and ethnicity. You have made them into a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign upon the earth!
5:8-11-12 – Many angels, the living creatures, and elders around the throne too numerous to count (thousands), saying with a loud voice,
Worthy is the Lamb Who was slaughtered to receive power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!
5:8-13 – Every created thing in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and all the things in them, saying,
To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion forever and ever.
5:14 – The 4 living creatures kept saying, Amen, and the elders fell down and worshipped.
7:9-10 – An uncountable multitude of the holy ones from every nation, language, people, and ethnicity standing in the presence of the throne and of the Lamb clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands, crying out loudly:
Salvation is to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb!
7:11-12 – The angels around the throne, the elders and the 4 living creatures fell on their faces before the throne and worshipped, saying,
Amen! The blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and strength are to our God forever and ever. Amen.
11:15 – The 7th angel sounded the 7th shofar, and loud voices arose in heaven saying:
The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Master and of His Messiah, and He will reign forever and ever!
11:16-17 – The 24 elders on their thrones sitting in the presence of God fell on their faces and bowed before God, saying,
We give You thanks, Adonai, the Almighty, Who is and Who was, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
12:10-12 – After the great dragon was thrown down, a loud voice in heaven, saying, (at the birth of Messiah),
Now comes the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom reign of our God, and the authority of His Messiah, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters who accuses them before our God day and night was thrown down. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life – even when faced with death. For this reason, rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the land and the sea because the Accuser has come down to you with great rage, knowing that he has only a short time.
15:2-4 – We, victorious over the enemy through His blood standing by the glassy sea with harps sing the song of Moses, the song of the Lamb:
Great and marvelous are Your acts, Adonai, the Almighty; Righteous and true are Your ways,
O King of the nations!
Who will not fear You, O Master, and glorify Your Name?
For You alone are undefiled;
All the nations will come and bow before You because Your righteous acts have been revealed!
