The Charges of Paul to Timothy
Encouraging Words for Any Young Person

I created this little 4.25 x 5.5-inch book as a holiday gift in November 1994. I made one for every friend. Soon, people began to request them with different names on the front! Then in June 2019, I gave the words to a young man, Joshua, upon his graduation. I am sharing this document with you, so you can use it to encourage any person by changing the name from Timothy to that person's name (such as Michael or Julia), and then slipping the charges into a card.

You may print the downloadable PDF here. To make your own changes to the one-page Word document, click here, download the document, replace the name Timothy with your own, print the document and enclose it in the suggested graduation cards below.

You may consider using the message at the end of this document for the inside of a greeting card.

We have several Art Cards available at our other website Flower Girl Greetings.com that may be appropriate for you to use with these charges – cards such as Young Man, Strength and Dignity, Lifted hands, Steadfast and so many more. The Charges of Paul to Timothy

Timothy,

Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

(2 Timothy 1:13)

Timothy,

Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in you, the treasure that has been entrusted to you.

(2 Timothy 1:14)

Timothy,

The sons of God are those who are being led by the Spirit of God. Be led by God.

(Romans 8:14)

Timothy,

Guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge” which some have professed and thus gone astray from faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

(1 Timothy 6:20,21)

Timothy,

Remember, the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart, a good conscience and a sincere faith.
(1 Timothy 1:5)

Timothy,

God has not given you a spirit of fear or timidity, but of power and love, discipline and a sound mind. Therefore, do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our own works, but according to His own purpose and grace which He granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity.

(2 Timothy 1:7-10)

Timothy,

Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

(2 Timothy 2:1)

Timothy,

Suffer hardship with me as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Remember, no soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

(2 Timothy 2:3,4)

Timothy,

Be diligent and study to be a workman of God that rightly and accurately handles the word of truth.

(2 Timothy 2:15)

Timothy,

Pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

(2 Timothy 2:22)

Timothy,

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus,… preach the word, be ready in season and out of season, exhort with great patience and instruction for the time will come when they will not endure sound teaching.

(2 Timothy 4:1-3)

Timothy,

You will fight the good fight, you will finish the course, you will keep faith, and in the future the Lord, the righteous Judge, the righteous One Who brings order to all things, will give you a crown of righteousness, and not just to you, but to all who have loved and longed for His appearing.

(2 Timothy 4:7,8)

Dear Timothy,

Blessings on your Graduation!

As you continue in your adventure with our loving Lord, we give you Psalm 32:8 –

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will counsel you with My loving eye on you.

The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.

(2 Timothy 4:22)

With love and prayers,
[your name]

Welcome to Shale Fragments, a collection of writings and art for individual and group use!

Teaching God’s truth and the beauty of His Word is my greatest delight! My art card company, Flower Girl Greetings, was launched in 2012 with this purpose. In April 2020, ShaleFragments.com became the gathering place for the writings.

As I have studied the rich meanings of the original Greek and Hebrew languages of the Bible, I continue to see beautiful progressions and connections that compel me to organize and convey their life-changing beauty!
