Are you discouraged?

Discouragement comes in many forms. It can be difficult to know the source. Loneliness, depression, and failure can bring discouragement. Some people have had emotional trauma that surfaces at certain times of the year that needs to be healed.  Some people have personalities that are very affected by the weather.

The winter skies in Ohio have been rather gray and prolonged. Today, it is raining and the skies and earth are gray, gray, gray. The precious Holy Spirit sustains us faithfully, our Comforter Who comes along side us and is always there. All through the Scriptures, though, we read about the importance of the body of Messiah Jesus, the family of God, the priesthood of believers. We are the hands and feet of the Comforter.

In the book of Hebrews, the author encourages us to encourage one another daily. Flower Girl Greetings was created to help others be able to easily send tangible encouragement that is beautiful, powerful and lasting. We can ask God to show us someone who may be discouraged. We can call them (they may need to hear a voice), or consider texting them, or meeting them for coffee, or sending them a card.  It will be a refreshing breeze from the outside into someone’s world that may be gloomy.

Did you know that Adam was lonely before he sinned? Yes, God said that He didn’t want Adam to be alone. Whether you are married, never married, widowed or divorced, man or woman, you were created to be in connection with those who love and value you. Loneliness is not sin, and we were created to take away each other’s aloneness.

If you are lonely or discouraged today, please let me know, and I will send you a Sparrow card!  If you would like to send the Sparrow card and want to know what is written on the back, please continue reading…

God bless you!
Beth Ann

Text on the back of the Sparrow card:

His Eye is on the Sparrow is a hymn based on verses from the book of Matthew. The hymn was written in 1905 by Civilla D. Martin and Charles H. Gabriel:
Why should I feel discouraged,
Why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely,
And long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,”
His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness,
I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth,
but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.
Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him,
From care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Matthew 6:26
Behold the birds of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?

Matthew 10:29-31
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father knowing. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So, don’t be afraid, because you are of more value than many sparrows.

The original artwork for Sparrow was created with pointed-pen calligraphy and cut and torn paper that I painted with various metallic paints and inks.

Welcome to Shale Fragments, a collection of writings and art for individual and group use!

Teaching God’s truth and the beauty of His Word is my greatest delight! My art card company, Flower Girl Greetings, was launched in 2012 with this purpose. In April 2020, became the gathering place for the writings.

As I have studied the rich meanings of the original Greek and Hebrew languages of the Bible, I continue to see beautiful progressions and connections that compel me to organize and convey their life-changing beauty!
